ATHENS - UGA Football’s 34-3 win over No. 14 Clemson and Dabo Swinney on Saturday was watched by nearly eight million viewers Disney said in a release.
The game was part of an ABC triple header that featured the Dawgs and Tigers, Miami-UF and Notre Dame-Texas A&M, which lead the start of college football with an audience of 8.2 million viewers. Miami’s destruction of the Gators managed 6.6 million viewers.
The numbers are “fast national” numbers. Full numbers will be available after Labor Day, which slows ratings releases by a day typically.
Still, the SEC triple header is a great start for Disney, which acquired the rights to broadcast league games starting this season. Georgia will play on ABC in primetime at Kentucky in two weeks, and at Alabama at the end of September.

UGA-CU’s 7.9 million viewers at noon the first full Saturday of the season outdrew last year’s ACC-SEC matchup from the same time slot by nearly 5.4 million viewers. Tennessee-Virginia drew only 2.5 million last year at the same time and on the same network.
The game is the third time in the last four UGA-Clemson games that the contest has drawn at least 7.9 million viewers. The game is Georgia’s 26th most-watched game since 2010. It is the 7th most-watched regular season game (no bowls, CFP or SECCG) for the Dawgs since 2010.
Three of Clemson’s five most-watched regular season games since 2012 have come against UGA (2013, 2021 and 2024). Saturday’s game is the most-watched noon game Clemson has ever played.
