ATHENS - One conclusion that can be made after watching Florida State lose to Georgia Tech to open up the 2024 college football season is that heavy use of the transfer portal only works to an extent. 

Kirby Smart is not shy about his feelings for the transfer portal (which are not super positive), but college football’s new model has benefitted UGA Football. And, it has benefitted other schools too.
