ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have landed a commitment from one of the top defensive line prospects in the South.

That would be four-star, Christian Garrett‍.

Someone Dawg Post members are familiar with, Garrett is a stout, physical interior defensive lineman who moved up his commitment date in a big way, committing to Georgia tonight after a big official visit to Georgia.

Garrett took an official visit to Clemson the previous weekend, but as we’ve reported for months now, Georgia was always going to be tough to beat for the outstanding Prince Avenue Christian lineman.

Now, they have him publicly on the commit list.

What will Garrett bring to Athens?

Toughness, leadership, and a winning attitude.

A playmaking interior lineman who can close running lanes and attack the quarterback, Garrett brings good size at 6-foot-4 280-pounds with active hands and a knack for finding his way into the backfield. He’s a guy that is used to winning, helping lead his Prince Avenue Christian team to two consecutive Single-A private state championships.

He’s quick off the snap, shows strong hands, plays with leverage, sheds blocks, and knows how to deliver a sound hit on the ball-carrier. He’s a force in the middle of the trenches who still has his best football way ahead of him. The peach-state is loaded with excellent defensive line prospects, and Garrett is one of the best.

Garrett is coming off a strong junior season where he made 86 tackles, nine TFLs and five sacks. He’s still developing as an every-down lineman, but the potential is easy to see.

Garrett is ranked as the No. 10 DL prospect and the No. 128 overall prospect in the country.

He joins 3-star DL Stephon Shivers‍ on Georgia’s commit list along the defensive line.
