ATHENS - Kirby Smart, James Coley, and the rest of the Georgia staff god some Mother's Day good news today as they’ve landed a commitment from one of the top wide receivers in the state.

That would be four-star Thomas Blackshear.

The Savannah native out of Calvary Day (GA) chose Georgia today over Florida State and Tennessee, giving the Dawgs their first wide receiver commitment in the 2025 class.

A one time state champion for the Benedictine Cadets in 2022 as a sophomore, Blackshear now plays for Calvary Day and is coming off a solid junior season where he caught 27 passes for 551 yards and five touchdowns in just 8 games.

The Savannah native has plenty of size and length at 6-foot-2 190-pounds and flashed playmaking ability on a consistent basis last year. He was a dependable option in the passing game all year long and shows the ability to stretch the field vertically while also being a threat in the screen and short passing game. He’s quick, explosive, and has a knack for finding the end-zone.

He’s a crisp route-runner, shows strong hands, and has SEC-caliber size at 6-foot-1 195-pounds.

Don’t let his ranking fool you. This rising senior is a true playmaker and will only get better and better over time. He’s ranked as the No. 37 prospect in Georgia and the No. 298 player in the country for the 2025 class.
