ATHENS - After signing an impressive defensive line haul in the 2024 class, Georgia Bulldog assistant Tray Scott is hoping to sign another elite class in this current 2025 cycle.
Scott has one commitment on board in 4-star EDGE Darren Ikinnagbon, and he has Georgia in the mix for several more of the nation’s best.
Everyone knows about 5-star defensive tackle targets Elijah Griffin and Justus Terry, but another in-state lineman to keep an eye on is Douglas County (GA) lineman, Laderion Williams.
The big 6-foot-4 320-pounder from Douglasville told Dawg Post last week that Georgia is one of his top schools right now, and while an exact date isn’t planned yet, Williams plans to take an official visit to Georgia at some point this summer.
It’s unclear exactly where this 3-star prospect is on Tray Scott’s board, but if Williams does have the green light to jump on board this summer, Dawg Post feels Georgia could be tough to beat.
Williams spoke with Dawg Post recently about his interest in Georgia, other schools involved, and when he could be making a commitment.
“I went to Georgia earlier this spring and I love coach Tray Scott”, Williams told Dawg Post. “That’s my dog. He knows how to connect with the youth. He knows what’s up and what we like to hear. He treats you like one of his own from the second you first meet him. You connect with his vibe automatically. “
“Coach Scott was the biggest reason why Georgia is one of my top schools, along with Coach Smart”, Williams continued. “When you see coach Smart, he knows what he’s doing. Whether it’s about football or just life, it doesn’t matter. There’s something about those two.”
Williams said he also took visits to South Carolina and Auburn this spring, so those are two more schools to keep an eye on this summer. His official visit schedule is still up in the air, but Williams did say that he wants to make a commitment later this summer after those important weekend visits in June.
As a junior last fall, Williams made 60 tackles, two sacks, one INT, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
