ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs got some BIG news today as they’ve landed a commitment from one of the top EDGE prospects in the country.

That would be four-star, Darren Ikinnagbon‍.

A long, athletic, versatile defensive lineman with a promising 6-foot-5 240-pound frame, this New Jersey native out of Hillside High School earned an offer from outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe and the Dawgs back on November 3rd and quickly became a top target for Smart and the defensive staff.

After an unofficial visit in early February, sources told Dawg Post that Georgia would be a team involved with Ikinnagbon until the end. From that visit on, Georgia was the team to beat. Now, they’ve landed his public commitment.

What is Georgia getting in Ikinnagbon?

Georgia’s getting a raw athlete with a long frame. They’re also getting a young man with above-average athleticism for his size with his best football ahead of him. He just started playing football as a freshman but he has a basketball, wrestling, and a track and field background. His high school coaches saw the potential he had on the gridiron, and now he’s starting to become one of the nation’s top defenders in the 2025 class.

Right now, this young man is a blank canvas for Glenn Schumann and the Georgia staff. He looks the part and is coming off a strong junior season where he flashed 5-star potential.

He’s lightning-quick off the snap and can overpower smaller linemen in the area with ease. He can win with speed and power right now, but once he develops and refines his technique, allowing him to get to the quarterback in different ways, Ikinnagbon could make a giant impact in Athens down the road.

He’s a raw athlete with good size, but in Athens, look for him to start becoming a true impact defender with the potential to become a three-down player. He’s a strong pass-rusher, but he’ll have to keep working on that when he gets to Athens. He’s strong enough to hold the point of attack against the run and shows a great motor when chasing down the ball-carrier. He also has a knack for punching the ball out when making a big tackle.

The potential is easy to see, and the Dawgs have a chance to turn this raw defender into a big-time player as they develop him down the road.

Ikinnagbon is ranked as the No. 14 EDGE defender and the No. 112 overall prospect in the 2025 class.

Where does Georgia go next?

On the edge, other Georgia targets to keep an eye on include:

4-star Bryce Davis‍

4-star Isaiah Gibson‍ (USC commit)

4-star Jared Smith‍

4-star Zion Grady‍
