ATHENS - Are the Georgia Bulldogs trying to flip a current Tennessee commitment?

Well, it’s a little early for flip season, but there’s one current Volunteer commitment that Georgia fans need to keep an eye on.

That’s three-star wide receiver, Joakim Dodson‍.

The 6-foot-0 175-pounder out of Collierville (TN) committed to the in-state Volunteers on February 10th, but now, the Georgia Bulldogs have offered.

New wide receivers coach James Coley has extended several offers since coming back to Athens and Dodson was able to earn his offer from Coley on March 3rd. The current three-star pass-catcher made sure to tell Dawg Post all about his recent offer from the Dawgs.

“It was big because Georgia only offers the best of the best because they’re one of the top programs in the country”, Dodson told Dawg Post. “So it’s huge. I know the program has been at the top of the college football world for these past couple years and overall just a great program!”

Dodson gets it. He may live in Tennessee, but he knows the Georgia Bulldogs are still the major power in college football. Playing in orange and white is the plan for now, but if James Coley and the Georgia staff decide they want to push for him, sources say this recruitment could get interesting down the road.

As a prospect, Dodson’s speed and ability to stretch the field stands out immediately. He’s plenty fast for his size and shows good hand-eye coordinator when hauling in a pass over his shoulder. He’s a threat to pick up yards after the catch and can bounce off smaller defenders down the field. The Tennessee native still has plenty of time to develop as a route-runner, but his quick feet and agility should help improve his route tree at the next level.

As a junior last fall, Dodson caught 49 passes for 839 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s not heavily ranked this second, but that can always change down the road. He’s currently ranked as the No.98 WR prospect and the No. 589 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
