ATHENS - Kirby Smart’s UGA Football program learned of the passing of its legendary mascot Tuesday morning.
UGA X or "Que" was the Bulldogs' mascot from 2015-2022 - going 91-18 and winning two national titles. Uga X joined "Seiler's Uga Three" as the only two Bulldogs in Georgia history to win a national championship and passed Uga VI, who reigned from 1999-2008, as the winningest Bulldog in Georgia lore.
Que” was formally crowned as his successor in a collaring ceremony prior to the Georgia- Georgia Southern game on Nov. 21, 2015. During his audition, he made appearances at the Countdown to Kickoff event in July 2015, as well as Picture Day in August, before presiding over the entirety of the 2015 football season. Que capped his inaugural season by leading the team to a 24-17 victory over Penn State at the 2016 Taxslayer Bowl.
Que was two and half years old when he began his reign as Georgia's beloved mascot in 2015. He compiled an impressive 91-18 record, which included back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championships, two SEC titles and victories in the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Peach bowls.
The Uga line of mascots began in 1956 under the ownership of Frank and Cecelia Seiler. The Seiler family, led by Charles Seiler, has continued its loyal dedication to the mascots for nearly 70 years.
“Things will be a little different around the house for a while,” said Charles Seiler. “Que traditionally starts barking for his breakfast around 5:30 a.m. This morning, Boom waited until 6:00 a.m. to let us know he was ready for his breakfast so he’ll be a little later each day.”
UGA released this statement regarding Que’s passing:
“We are saddened to announce that Uga X, fondly known as Que, died peacefully in his sleep earlier this morning.
Born May 27, 2013, he formally began his tenure in a collaring ceremony at the Georgia-Georgia Southern football game on Nov. 21, 2015. Que retired following the 2022 season after becoming the most decorated of all the Bulldog mascots. He compiled a football record of 91-18, presided over two SEC titles, the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff national championships, and seven New Year’s Six bowl appearances.
He will always be remembered as a Damn Good Dawg.”
