UGA Football Offers Impressive California Defensive Backs

ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are preparing to take on the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl, but as always, recruiting never stops.

The ‘Dawgs are always looking towards the future, and this week they offered multiple top defensive back prospects out of California.

The Bulldogs have had no problem landing elite prospects from the West Coast, and with new defensive backs coach Dante Williams having recruiting ties to California, it’s not a surprise to see offers flying out of Athens to some top West Coast defensive backs.

One recent offer went out to 4-star Daryus Dixson‍. The 6-foot-1 180-pound junior out of Mater Dei (CA) is ranked as the No. 10 DB prospect and the No. 94 overall prospect in the country for the 2025 class. An instinctive cornerback with length and impressive balls skills, Dixson already plays like a big-time D1-caliber cornerback. He reads the quarterback well in coverage and is a sure tackler when attacking the ball-carrier. He’s got a high ceiling, and now he’s the newest addition to William’s 2025 defensive back board. As a junior last fall, Dixson made 56 tackles, 5 TFLs, three INTs, 14 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. 

Another Mater Dei (CA) defensive back who earned a Georgia offer this week was 4-star Chuck McDonald III‍. Ranked as the No. 18 DB prospect and the No. 141 overall prospect in the 2025 class, McDonald is coming off an impressive junior season where he made 34 tackles, one INT, seven pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. Playing on the No. 1 team in America, McDonald made his presence known all year long while playing with several D1-caliber players on defense. If he played on just about any other team, his numbers would be a lot bigger. He’s one of the top cornerback prospects in California for the 2025 class, and now he holds an offer from Georgia.
