UGA Football Offers Fast-Rising Peach-State Defender

ATHENS - For the first time since the 2020 season, the Georgia Bulldogs won’t end the year No. 1 and kings of college football.

But this program isn’t going anywhere.

Now, some eyes turn back to the recruiting trail where the Bulldogs will hope to lock down the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class. Once that wrapped up, all the attention will focus on Georgia’s 2025 class.

The Bulldogs have eight current commitments in the 2025 class with six of them being in-state prospects. The peach state is once again loaded with talent, and the Georgia staff just offered one of the state’s hottest prospects this week.

That would be Eastside (GA) linebacker, Christian Gass. The long, athletic 6-foot-4 210-pound outside linebacker is a promising junior defender who is coming off a giant 2023 season for the Eagles this past season.

As a prospect, Gass is an explosive pass-rusher off the edge who knows how to make a big play in the backfield. Due to his frame and initial burst, the Covington native has seen his recruitment take off recently, earning new offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Southern Cal, among others. No longer an “underrated” player, Gass has the chance to quickly rise in the state rankings in the 2025 class.

Gass made 62 tackles and 11 TFLs in addition to two sacks. He’s a hard hitter who knows how to strike and deliver a big hit on the ball-carrier. Not only is he effective when attacking the quarterback, but he’s also to make plays in coverage. There’s a lot he does well, and is clear he has a high ceiling as an impact defender on the edge. If he can continue to add more weight and muscle this off-season, Gass could be bound for a monster season and a giant rankings boost in 2024.
