ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have built an NFL factory in Athens, Georgia recently.
They sign elite prospects out of high school, develop those players as well as any program in college football, and then send those players off to the NFL to make millions of dollars.
They’ve built a machine, and it’s as good a recruiting pitch as they could have.
Former Georgia Bulldog offensive tackle Broderick Jones would know. A former 5-star prospect out of Lithonia (GA), Jones played three seasons for the Bulldogs, won two championships, and heard his name called in the 1st-round of last month’s NFL draft, being selected with the No. 14 overall pick.
According to FanDuel, the Steelers currently have +6000 odds to win the Super Bowl next year with Jones on the roster.

Jones recently sat down for an interview and gave a big-time recruiting pitch to prospects interested in the Georgia Bulldogs.
“Man, there’s nothing like Georgia”, Jones said. “Nobody is doing it like Georgia. If you want to go to the league, and you want to be prepared, that’s the best way to go. They’re going to get you prepared for the next level. They’re going to stay on you about everything. They’re on you about the smallest details. It’s just different because they prepare you like no other school. And I can say that because I’ve got friends that went to different schools and they tell me it’s just a big difference.”
Jones was a great high school prospect, but it’s clear he got better every season he was at Georgia. He worked hard, learned early on, and took the reins when it was his turn to take over the left tackle role.
He didn’t whine and complain as a freshman. He didn’t throw in the towel and hit the transfer portal. He did things the Georgia way, and it all worked out. He’s a two-time national champion, and now he’s worth millions.
That sounds like a 5-star recruiting pitch.
