ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs DL Jalen Carter was picked No. 9 Overall to the Eagles in the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City.

"Remember he got hurt in the first game against Oregon. He played out the season. He was a key part of their season. The scary thing about Jalen Carter is he has just scratched the surface of his ability. He is the best football player available in terms of pure football alone," ESPN's Mel Kiper said Thursday.

Jalen Carter is coming to an NFL stadium near you soon. After three seasons in Athens, Carter heads to the NFL with unquestioned talent, but plenty of questions about his off-the-field activities. Those questions lead to him slipping slightly down draft boards from what seemed like a possible No. 1 overall pick earlier this cycle

“Jalen fits a lot of (NFL) teams because he's a really good football player,” Kirby said Thursday.

Big and hostile to the offense, Carter has been one of the top college football players in the sport over the last two years.

"If you are just picking guys playing football - you are taking Jalen Carter. He's a game wrecker,” Kirk Herbstreit said of Carter on Thursday afternoon before the Draft.

With Carter on board, the Eagles now have +850 odds to win the Super Bowl next season according to FanDuel.
