ATHENS - It hasn’t been a very good month for Georgia Bulldog defensive lineman, Jalen Carter.

Once an easy top 3 or top 5 pick in next month’s 2023 NFL Draft, Carter has seen his stock drop recently after being involved in the fatal January car crash, which led to his arrest in the middle of the NFL Combine a few weeks ago. He’s also coming off an underwhelming Pro Day performance earlier this week.

He may be a little heavier than he needs to be, and he needs to get in better shape, but if you turn on the film, there aren’t many prospects better than Jalen Carter.

That’s what NFL analyst Brian Baldinger said recently when studying some of Carter’s game tape from the Ohio State game.

“Jalen Carter might be the best player in this draft”.

Let’s not get it twisted here. Brian Baldinger isn’t your average NFL analyst. He’s a former offensive lineman himself who played in 143 career games. He breaks down film as well as any analyst out there. He knows the game, and he knows what elite offensive and defensive line play looks like.

Baldinger is correct too. Recent events may end up hurting Carter in the Draft, but when it’s time to put the pads on, Carter always brought his best.

Ask Tennessee, LSU, and Ohio State how good Jalen Carter is. Throw in Mississippi State, Auburn, Florida, and everyone else. He’s an elite defensive lineman who is having a rough few weeks. NFL coaches know that, and they aren’t going to let Carter slide too far down in the Draft.

A dominant force in the middle of Georgia’s defensive line, Carter was outstanding as a junior last fall, earning Associated Press & Coaches' All-SEC First Team honors. Carter made 32 tackles last fall along with an eye-opening and 31 QB hurries. He made three sacks and seven. more TFLs as well.

In his career, Carter has made 83 total tackles, 18.5 TFLs, and six sacks. He also forced two fumbles and blocked three kicks, with one of them being a game-changing play against Alabama in the 2022

Carter has +10,000 odds to be the first player taken overall in April’s 2023 NFL Draft according to FanDuel.
