ATHENS - Over the weekend Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs had plenty of prospects in campus ready to check out the defending national champions, and that means plenty of offers were sent out to promising prospects.

One prospect who earned a Georgia offer recently was talented freshman defensive back, Jamarrion Gordon. The Alabama native out of Jackson High School is a tough, instinctive defensive back who knows how to strike the ball-carrier. A promising defender in coverage, the 5-foot-11 180-pounder told Dawg Post that he had “tears of happiness” after earning an offer from assistant Fran Brown during his weekend visit to Athens. Gordon also holds offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, and Penn State.

Some of the top prospects in Mississippi made their way to the Classic City this weekend, and one of the top 2025 running backs in the Magnolia State, Quitman (MS) standout, Akylin Dear. A bigger, bruising back at 6-foot-1 200-pounds, Dear knows how to break tackles and keep the chains moving. He shows good burst and balance for a bigger back with an impressive spin move as well. He can drag defenders for extra yards down the field and has a nose for the end-zone. Keep an eye on this tough, physical back in the 2025 back over the next two years.

“All I could do was smile when I got the offer from UGA , the most I know about the UGA program is that they is a team they make sure everybody feels welcome at UGA like it’s home .”

A new wide receiver to know for the 2024 class is four-star, I’Marion Stewart. The Kenwood Academy star from Chicago, Illinois, Stewart is a 6-foot-1 180-pound playmaker who never played against great competition, but still showed his easy D1-caliber talent all season long as a junior. A good athlete with natural hands, Stewart can elude defenders down the field and make them miss in the open field. Even with an offer, he may not be high on Bryan McClendon’s board this second, but he’s still a receiver to know about in this current recruiting cycle.
