Tuscaloosa, AL - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs know how to beat Alabama in the gridiron, but Mike White’s group has a LONG way to go. The University of Georgia men's basketball team fell to top-ranked Alabama 108-59 on Saturday evening before 13,474 spectators at Coleman Coliseum.

Junior Justin Hill led Georgia (16-11, 6-8 SEC) in scoring with 17 points, while senior Terry Roberts tallied 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Fifth-year Braelen Bridges pitched in with 10 points and eight boards. On the evening, the Bulldogs shot 37.5 percent from the field.

“It will be hard to forget about this one, to be honest with you,” said Georgia head coach Mike White following the game. “I did a poor job preparing our guys. We looked rattled from the tip. Alabama is obviously a better basketball team than we are. They were terrific. As good of an offensive basketball team as I’ve seen live or competed against in our league. That said, we didn’t help ourselves. They didn’t play a team that defended at a high-level today.”

According to FanDuel, the Crimson Tide have +850 odds to win the 2022-2023 NCAA Championship this spring.

After trading baskets in the opening minutes, Alabama (23-4, 13-1 SEC) went on a 6-0 run to take a 15-4 lead at the 16-minute mark. The Bulldogs answered with a pair of buckets by Hill and Roberts, but the Crimson Tide found their stride and went on a 12-0 run to take a 20-point lead. Alabama extended its lead to 25 at the under-eight mark before taking a 54-25 advantage into the half.

Coming out of the locker room, the Crimson Tide quickly extended their lead to 37, while Georgia continued to attack the paint. With the contest drawing to a close, the Bulldogs slightly narrowed the final margin thanks to a 3-pointer and layup by Hill. Alabama would go on to win 108-59.

Georgia returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 21, when the Bulldogs travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks. Tip is set for 9:00 p.m. EST and the game will be aired on SEC Network.
