ATHENS - Former Georgia Bulldog legend AJ Green has called it a career.

And what a career it was.

Arguably the most talented wide receiver in program history, Green announced his retirement today on his personal Instagram page, ending one hell of a football career.

A former 5-star and one of the nation’s top-ranked prospects in the 2008 class, Green was a touchdown machine at Summerville High School in South Carolina, leaving as one of the best receivers the palmetto state has ever produced.

Green had a drama-free recruitment, committing to Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs early on, never wavering all throughout the recruiting process. He made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2008, catching 56 passes for 963 yards and 8 touchdowns. He would end his career in Athens with 166 catches for 2,619 yards and 23 touchdowns. He came to Athens a 5-star and left Athens a 5-star. His acrobatic catches and big plays down the field made one one of the best receivers in college football from 2008-2010.
