Georgia Bulldog Coach Kirby Smart Checks On Major 2024 Commitment

ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are still doing work on the recruiting trail, flying all over the country to check on some top programs and targets.
Smart and his staff were in California earlier this week to check in on 4-star TE target Walker Lyons, who some sources believe is trending Georgia’s way at the moment.
Smart was back in Florida on Wednesday and made a stop by Rockledge High School, home to new 2024 defensive back commitment, Jaylen Heyward, one of the top safety prospects across the country for his class.
A versatile defender, Heyward plays plenty of cornerback at Rockledge, but he’ll likely play some STAR once he gets to Athens. He’s an excellent run defender who reacts quickly before the play gets started. He’s a sure tackler and knows how to leave a bruise when he meets the ball carrier.
In coverage, he shows quick feet, has above-average speed, and plays the ball well in the air. He plays hard, he’s tough, and he was consistently one of the best players on the field at all times last year. As a junior, Heyward made 44 tackles, broke up 8 passes, forced three fumbles, and picked off two passes in coverage.

Smart also took the helicopter down to North Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday to stop by The Benjamin School. That would be home to 4-star RB target and current Florida Gators commitment, Chauncey Bowens.
Bowens is one of the top 2024 running backs in Florida and coming off a junior season where he rushed for 940 yards and 8 touchdowns.
“I was really excited to get the Georgia offer and of course I know of how dominating they’ve been”, Bowens told Dawg Post.
The big, bruising back at 5-foot-11 220-pounds also holds offer from Auburn, Colorado, among others.
