Los Angeles, CA - For the second consecutive season, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are the kings of college football. The Bulldogs beat TCU 65-7 in the 2023 CFP National Championship to secure the program’s first back-to-back championship.
Now, the question has to be asked. It might be too early, but it has to be asked.
Can Georgia go for a three-peat? The trifecta? The best three-year stretch of any program in college football history?
That’s what the Bulldogs are going for in 2023. True college football history. Something Nick Saban sure hasn’t accomplished during his time in Tuscaloosa.
The Stetson Bennett story maybe over, but Kirby Smart’s machine should keep on rolling in 2023.
Starting this week, it’s now the Carson Beck show in Athens. The talented four-star out of Jacksonville has a strong arm and the potential to thrive in Todd Monken’s quarterback friendly offense. He’s been a reliable backup, and 2023 is the year he’s going to shine. Don’t be surprised if he’s one of the top SEC quarterbacks next fall.

At running back, Dell McGee will have a reliable group returning lead by Kendall Milton, Daijun Edwards, Branson Robinson, Andrew Paul, and incoming freshman Roderick Robinson. That’s a room full of big, tough, tackle-breaking backs.
On the offensive line, Stacy Searels will have to replace right tackle Warren McClendon and Broderick Jones, who is expected to enter the 2023 NFL Draft. They might take a step back if Sedrick Van Pran-Granger decides to leave early, but they still have plenty of talent returning next season. Xavier Truss, Devin Willock, Amaruis Mims, and Tate Ratledge all have played meaningful minutes this season and are expected to return next fall.
At tight end, Brock Bowers will be back. The Mackey Award winner might be the best player in all of college football next season. Look for sophomore Oscar Delp to see plenty of opportunities to come his way in 2023 as the No. 2.
Will Georgia have the best receiver room in the SEC next year? AD Mitchel. Ladd McConkey. Rara Thomas. Dominic Lovett. So on and so on. That might be as good as it gets across the country.
Defensively, we all know what’s going to happen.
Kirby Smart’s defense will once again be one of the nation’s best in college football. They just re-load in Athens and they have a lot of incoming freshmen who are going to push the veterans throughout the off-season.
They’ll miss Jalen Carter on the defensive line, but it should still be a stout group overall with guys like Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins and Bear Alexander both having the potential to have a breakout 2023 season. Mykel Williams is going to be a problem. Marvin Jones Jr. could have a giant second season at outside linebacker.
Both inside linebackers, Smael Monson and Jamon-Dumas Johnson, will be back for the 2023 season, along with standout rising sophomore, Jalon Walker.
Malaki Starks, Kamari Lassiter, and Javon Bullard are all starters in the secondary who will be back next fall. The other spots will have some extremely talented and promising players fighting for those spots. Daylen Everette, David Daniel, and Nyland Green could all push for starting roles.
They’ll bring in a new kicker, but Jared Zirkel should be up to the staff.
The Georgia Bulldog train isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Not only will they have one of the most talented rosters in the country, but they have a very favorable schedule next year that should set them up nicely for another national-championship run.
Georgia’s future is whatever they want it to be. There is no ceiling. This could be the beginning of a true dynasty in college football for the next decade.
This is why Kirby Smart was hired. The Georgia Bulldogs are on top of the college football world, and they might be there for a while.
