ATLANTA - Kirby Smart and the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs are taking on the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes  on Satuday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Here are our five things for Friday you need to know going into the weekend.

1. Georgia Tries to get to LA

So much has been written and said about Georgia's colossal showdown with Ohio State not much needs to be added. This game isn't for all of the marbles. But a slew of folks will tell you under their breaths that they feel the winner of this game will likely win the national title.

We will see. I'm not sure I disagree with that... I'm not sure, however, that I think Ohio State beats Michigan. But that's another story for another day that may or may not arrive.

Georgia is going to have to execute, and be themselves. If that happens it is probably asking too much of the Buckeyes to win this game.

2a. What to watch for (UGA edition)

Two things actually - one on the field and one off it.

Jalen Carter is the biggest overall problem in college football today. If Ohio State can't deal with him in some way they won't win. So that's challenge No. 1 on the Ryan Day (ha). What we've seen from Carter is that when he's healthy, and that's only been in the final weeks of the season, that he can change a game with a play or two. He ruined the Gators' night; Tennessee could not handle him; he postered LSU.

Just real quick - if a player no one is thinking about... like Kendall Milton goes off... you have to like Georgia's chances in a very real way. That's just a thought. Milton, like Carter, looked like he was getting going in November.

The second thing to watch, and this is just being a TV nerd, is how large will the audience of this game be? Over the last 11 years, Ohio State and Georgia have been two of the three most-watched programs in college football.

This is a clash of the titans we've not seen before... and each and every Alabama fan will be there to hate watch this game, too. I expect a number in the range of between 20-24 million viewers. That's a lot of eyeballs. The three most-watched college football games since 2012 have featured either Ohio State (2014 vs. Oregon) or Georgia (2017 vs. Oklahoma; 2017 vs. Alabama)

2b. What to watch for (non-UGA edition)

Watch your dentures! Them Taters is taking on the Vols! At least Clemson actually wears Orange. The Vols wear some sort of yallow-orange.

I love it. Let's go.

Dabo is speaking in tongues again - so much so, in fact, that even making my die-hard Tater brother in law is rolling his eyes; and the Vols are trying to salvage what was a mess of an end to the year.

I'm not making a South Carolina joke because that state gets bullied by everyone too much already

3. Quote of the week:

“A lot has been made of this Georgia offense, and some advantages they may have. Where do you guys think you may have some advantages?”

Ohio State linebacker Tommy Eichenberg: “Everywhere. I think it just comes down to all of us just doing our job. And if we do that, we have a really good chance.”

Ohio State DL Jack Sawyer: “I think we got advantages across the board on both sides of the ball, and we just gotta go out there and execute.”

4. Thursday Night Rundown:

Man, that 2024 Alamo Bowl with Texas’ Arch Manning taking on Oregon State is going to be a thirller.

5. Lock of the week:

I’ve got UCLA to cover aginst Pitt (+8) in El Paso. Pitt’s starting QB isn’t playing. And even with that - this is the first bowl game the Bruins have playd in under Chip Kelly... yikes. They’ll take advantage.
