ATHENS - The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart are getting ready to take on Ohio State in the 2022 Peach Bowl.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 50-30 win over LSU in the 2022 SEC Championship Game. The last time Ohio State played there were thumped 45-23 at home against Michigan last Saturday - meaning the Buckeyes “were able to rest and bounce back.”

“I would like to give my guys a little bit of time to get healthy and in shape,” Kirby told ESPN Sunday. “But (Ohio State) didn't play in a conference championship.”

Kirby went on to complement the talent level at Ohio State - saying he knows it well.

"They have a lot of good players. We know that because they have a lot of players we recruited," he said. "It will be a big game, and our players love that."

Kirby said he wants to get the Bulldogs' defense back in gear after going up 30 points for the first time this season Saturday night against LSU.

"The massage is always going to be consistent," Kirby said. "There are always things we can do better. We have played really god complementary football, but we can't play like we did last night defensively."

Kirby added that the Bulldogs big men will have to be read to fight the gifted Buckeyes when the game kicks in Atlanta on New Year's Eve night.

"It boils down to the line of scrimmage; it is about turnovers. It really boils down to how you play, not who you play," he said.

Kirby added that Stetson Bennett and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud are both experienced signal callers, and their play could be how the game is determined.

"The No. 1 critical factor is your quarterback. The decisions he is asked to make are so critical. It almost outweighs the coordinator," he said.
