ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia junior defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse and senior place-kicker Jack Podlesny have earned weekly Southeastern Conference honors following the Bulldogs’ win at Kentucky, according to a league announcement Monday.

Stackhouse has earned the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the first time in his career while Podlesny has garnered Special Teams Player of the Week accolades for the third time in 2022.  This week, Podlesny shares the honor with Vanderbilt long snapper Wesley Schelling.

These are the 11th and 12th SEC weekly awards for the Bulldogs this season.  Senior S Christopher Smith has been named the Defensive Player of the Week twice while sophomore TE Brock Bowers has garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors two times.  In addition to Podlesny’s three awards, RB Branson Robinson was also named the Freshman of the Week following his showing versus Auburn.  After the win over No. 1 Tennessee, senior QB Stetson Bennett, junior DL Jalen Carter and freshman S Malaki Starks were all honored by the SEC.

Stackhouse, a native of Stone Mountain, Ga., matched his career high with five tackles (including 0.5 tackles for loss) and had two QB hurries during Georgia’s 16-6 victory.  He stopped five plays that totaled only nine yards, including one that was a 1-yard loss on a 4th-and-1 situation on the Wildcats’ first drive.  Stackhouse anchored the middle of a defense that held Kentucky to just 89 yards rushing on 25 tries (3.6 avg.) and scoreless through three quarters.

Podlesny, a native of St. Simons Island, Ga., drilled all three of his field goals and knocked down his only PAT to help deliver Georgia its 11th win.  The Bulldogs only had three possessions in the opening half and Podlesny finished each of them with field goals in the range of 24 to 37 yards to give his team a 9-0 edge going into the half.  He also had two touchbacks on his kickoffs and added another point late in the third quarter to help Georgia distance themselves from the Wildcats.

No. 1 Georgia (11-0, 8-0 SEC) concludes its regular season on Dooley Field in Sanford Stadium versus Georgia Tech (5-6, 4-4 ACC) on Saturday.  ESPN will televise the matchup at 12 p.m.
