3:13 PM | Vanderbilt shocks Kentucky πβ¬ βοΈ
Vanderbilt drove the field to take a late lead over Kentucky, and stopped a Kentucky drive from starting to win. The 24-21 win was Vanderbilt's first in the league this season. Kentucky, meanwhile, was a highly-ranked program, but has struggled down the stretch with losses to Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee since starting 4-0. 2:24 PM | Mizzou Giving the Vols Trouble π―π
With 8:55 to play in the third quarter Tennessee holds a narrow 28-24 lead over the Tennessee Vols. A loss by the Vols would wrap up the SEC East for Georgia. That would mean the Dawgs have captured the division five times in the last six years.
Two plays later the Vols scored on an easy 68-yard touchdown to push back out to an 11-point lead in the back-and-forth affair.

11:49 a.m|Rushing to a Conclusion πβοΈ
The Bulldogs are tied for second nationally with 29 rushing touchdowns (The school record is 42 set in 2017). Eight different Bulldogs have scored a rushing TD this year led by junior RB Daijun Edwards with seven. Georgia is averaging 194 yards per game and 5.4 yards per carry.
Georgia’s offensive line returns three of five starters. C Sedrick Van Pran (24 consecutive starts), RT Warren McClendon (team high 33 conseπβοΈcutive starts) and RG Tate Ratledge (nine consecutive starts) all got the nod in the first nine games along with LT Broderick Jones (nine consecutive starts). LG Xavier Truss started the first eight games this year and then due to a toe injury, RSo. Devin Willock got his first career start against No. 1 Tennessee. The unit was named to the Joe Moore Midseason Honor Roll as one of the country’s top offensive lines. The versatile Warren Ericson relieved an injured Ratledge for the final 14 games of 2021. He can play all five spots along the line. Amarius Mims is lining up at either tackle position. They have helped Georgia pile up 40.1 points/game and 514.2 yards/game thus far.
Georgia ran for a season-high 292 yards and six touchdowns in their 42-10 win over Auburn. The Bulldogs averaged 7.5 yards/carry against the Tigers. Georgia’s rushing tally versus Auburn was the most since 2020 against Missouri (316). The six rushing scores were the most for Georgia since the 2018 contest versus UMass.
11:31 a.m|Did You Know?
Georgia joins Ohio State and Michigan as the only schools to rank in the country’s top 11 in Scoring Off/ Def. Georgia and Tennessee are the only two teams in the nation with two wins vs. the current CFP & AP Top 10.
10:13 a.m|Two-Dog Night πΆπΆ
According to Caesars Sportsbook: Top-ranked Georgia will try to stay atop the CFP Playoff rankings and avoid a letdown tonight at unranked Mississippi State, who is a 16.5-point underdog. Georgia has not had much trouble with Mississippi State in the past, winning 12 of the last 13 meetings with eight covers. The Dawgs are also 11-3 ATS (14-0 SU) when laying 14 or more points on the road since 2019. On the flip side, Mississippi State is 1-13 SU and 5-9 ATS when getting 14 or more points since 2012. But MSU is 5-0 ATS all-time in five games at home or a neutral site against teams ranked No. 1 in the AP poll. That includes the only time the Bulldogs toppled a top-ranked opponent – a 6-3 shocker over Alabama as 17.5-point underdogs in 1980 at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson. For today’s tilt, Georgia has attracted 71% of the spread bets, while Mississippi State has collected 83% of the cash on the strength of a $55,000 wager on MSU +16.5.
9:00 a.m|It is Getting Cold Outside π₯Ά
Saturday night’s game against State could be the coldest the Dawgs have played since Kirby Smart took over. Temperatures in Starkville are expected to be in the lower 40s or upper 30s at kickoff. Georgia has only played 12 games since 2010 that had a temperature in the 40s or below. The Dawgs are 11-1 in those games (2014 Georgia Tech).

SERIES HISTORY WITH MSU
Georgia leads the series with MSU 19-6 including 4-2 in Starkville. Overall, the Bulldogs have won 12 of the past 13 meetings against MSU. The teams last clashed in 2020 with Georgia posting a 31-24 win in Athens. Georgia hasn’t been to MSU since 2010. A 24-12 defeat snapped Georgia’s nine-game winning streak in the series. It dropped the Bulldogs to 1-3 on the year and they wound up 6-7, marking the first losing season for the Bulldogs since 1996.
FLASHBACK: GEORGIA EDGES MISSISSIPPI STATE 31-24
Despite Mississippi State taking the lead three different times and tying the game late in the third quarter, the SEC East Bulldogs scored the fourth quarter’s only points to earn the seven-point victory in the teams’ last meeting in 2020. Both teams combined for only 30 yards on the ground, however Georgia quarterback J.T. Daniels threw for 401 yards and four touchdowns in his debut while freshman MSU signal caller Will Rogers connected on 41 of 52 attempts for 336 yards and a score. Current Pittsburgh Steeler George Pickens put Georgia up 7-3 early in the second quarter on a 4-yard touchdown catch and Jermaine Burton (197 receiving yards) knotted the score at 17-all in the second period’s final 30 seconds. While Burton’s second scoring catch in the third quarter put UGA up by a touchdown, it was Kearis Jackson who hauled in a 40-yard touchdown catch from Daniels to lock down the No. 13 Bulldogs’ fifth win of the year. Current Philadelphia Eagle Nakobe Dean led the defensive attack for the Bulldogs with 12 stops.
NOTABLE FROM WIN OVER TOP-RANKED TENNESSEE
In the highest ranked matchup in Sanford Stadium history, No. 3 Georgia defeated No. 1 Tennessee 27-13 (CFP ranking). The high-flying Vols entered the contest leading the nation in scoring (49.4 ppg) and were held to the lowest tally in the Josh Heupel era.
After registering just 10 sacks through eight games, the Bulldogs collected six against top-ranked Tennessee who had surrendered only 13 on the year. Sophomore STAR Javon Bullard led the attack with the first two of his career. *Georgia is 4-1 as the No. 3 CFP team. On CFP Selection Sunday in 2017 and 2021, the Bulldogs made the CFP as the No. 3 seed. In the first CFP rankings this year, the Bulldogs were No. 3 behind UT and Ohio State. Georgia was No. 1 in the Associated Press and Coaches polls while UT was No. 2 (AP) and No. 3 (Coaches).
