ATHENS - Another week, another honor for standout Georgia Bulldog freshman defensive back, Malaki Starks.

The talented safety out of Jefferson (GA) was a five-star prospect in high school for a reason and it didn’t take long for Kirby Smart and the staff to insert him into the starting rotation this year.

The playmaking defender has made play after play all season along and had another big performance this week against the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers. It was one of the biggest regular season games of the college football season, and Starks made sure to bring his “A” game.

The Vols brought their top-ranked offense into Athens, and many “experts” thought they would throw on Georgia’s secondary and freshman Malaki Starks with ease.

Of course, that didn’t happen. Georgia’s secondary played outstanding all game, and Starks was honored this week as the SEC Co-Freshman of the week for his big game during Georgia’s big 27-13 victory.

The freshman safety made 10 tackles (leading the team) and broke up one pass during the win. He was all over the field and showed why he was one of the nation’s top high school prospects in the 2022 class.
