ATHENS - As we all know by now, Georgia Bulldog defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann is not only one of the college football’s top assistants, but he’s an elite recruiter as well.

When Glenn Schumann goes after a target, he’s not going to miss.

Schumann dominated on the recruiting trail in the current 2023 class, landing commitments from three of the top inside linebackers in the country. One of his three commitments, Lincoln (FL) star Raylen Wilson‍, is ranked as the No. 1 inside linebacker in the country according to the On3 2023 rankings.

Dawg Post caught up with Lincoln linebackers coach Eli Will to find out what exactly the Bulldogs are getting in Wilson.

“I would say his maturity, and knowledge of the game for someone is age is astonishing”, Will said. “I think that’s one piece of his game that makes him special. To add what he does on the field, and to be able to move sideline to sideline at any given time to make plays, is at an elite level. You don’t see too many high school players that’s NFL ready and he’s NFL ready. That great staff in Athens is only going to add more tools to his arsenal.”

At 6-foot-2 220-pounds, Wilson is a true sideline to sideline linebacker who can run with anyone in the 2023 class. A younger prospect for the 2023 class, Wilson already shows outstanding instincts, toughness, and the ability to make the sure tackle. He can run down the ball carrier with ease, he consistently gets off blocks, and knows how to get after the passer.

He’s someone who “checks all the boxes” at linebacker, but of course, there are always things to work on.

“If I can say one thing he’s working hard on it would be pass coverage”, Hill added. “We don’t face a lot of teams that spread the ball around so that would probably be the only thing to work on.”

Through his first 8 games of the season, Wilson has made 59 tackles and four sacks.
