ATHENS - Former Florida Gators coach Dan Mullen had some eye-opening things to say about Georgia Bulldogs TE Brock Bowers Thursday night.

"Bowers is the most versatile player in college football since Kyle Pitts," Mullen said.

Mullen coached the Falcons TE during their time at Florida. Pitts ended his career with the Gators with 100 receptions for 1,492 yards and 18 touchdowns. Pitts was drafted No. 4 overall by Atlanta in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Pitts started 15 games for the Falcons a season ago. He had 68 receptions for 1,026 total yards with a touchdown in 2021.

"Bowers is a unicorn," Mullen continued. "You can line him up in the X receiver, the Z receiver - you can put him anywhere. And you can't defend him unless you have a unicorn on defense that can do all the things on defense he can do."

Through four games in 2022, Bowers has 82 rushing yards and three touchdowns on three carries. He's added 15 catches for 276 yards and two scores including an amazing toe-touching TD against South Carolina in Georgia's blowout win over the Gamecocks.

"You can move him to different positions on the field, so the defense is really out of sync trying to find him every single play."

Bowers ended 2021 with four runs for 56 yards and a score. He had 56 receptions for 882 yards with 13 touchdowns. All of those led the Bulldogs a year ago. Bowers has scored 12 touchdowns in his last nine games.

Mullen said earlier this year that the Bulldogs would win the 2022 national title.
