MIAMI - Georgia Bulldogs QB JT Daniels has arrived for the Orange Bowl.
That’s according to a report from Jake Rowe. Daniels has served as the Bulldogs’ backup signal caller since the Vanderbilt game in late September. He was sidelined by injuries, and Stetson Bennett took the starting job in the Arkansas game, and the Bulldogs have not changed back to Daniels since.
The California native was reported to have COIVD just before Christmas, but his arrival in South Florida indicates that he will likely be cleared to play for the No. 3 Bulldogs in the 2021 Orange Bowl, which kicks off Friday.
Georgia is listed as a 7.5-point favorite to beat No. 2 Michigan by FanDuel.
Earlier this month Smart told reporters that he was happy with the play of his quarterbacks so far in their preparations for the match with Michigan.
“All four of those guys have done a tremendous job working.” Kirby told reporters earlier in December. “Brock (Vandergriff) has been giving us a great picture down on the scout team end. JT (Daniels) and Stetson (Bennett) are both doing a really good job simulating the offense that Coach Monken wants to do. Like I talk about all the team, we are going to play the guy that gives us the best chance to win. I am really proud of the way both of those guys have practiced. We have done four or five camp-type practices and two that were really focused on Michigan. Both guys Stetson and JT have been really good in terms of being locked-in and really focused on what we need to focus on.”
