ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs QB JT Daniels threw at practice on Tuesday more than he has thrown in some time, coach Kirby Smart said.

It remains to be seen what that will mean for Daniels, Smart, Stetson Bennett and the No. 1 Bulldogs as they get ready for the Florida Gators and beyond.

“JT took more reps with the groups Tuesday than he has in the past. I thought he did a good job with those reps. I think he would be the first to tell you there's a little rust there from not having taken as many 11-on-11 reps, or good-on-good reps,” Smart told reporters.

Daniels has not thrown in a game since the Bulldogs’ 62-0 win at Vanderbilt in September. Smart said UGA’s staff will continue to monitor Daniels as he gets ready for a return to play.

“We will see how he responds today and see if there is any soreness, and what his pitch count will be  and how many reps he will be able to get,” Smart added.

The Bulldogs are in the middle of a bye week as they get ready for the annual trip to Jacksonville to take on the Gators, who have quarterback issues of their own. Florida coach Dan Mullen would not commit to starting either quarterback on Wednesday, and fielded questions about the future of defensive coordinator Todd Grantham after the Gators allowed 49 points at LSU Saturday.

The Gators are off this week, but are fourth in the SEC East with losses to Alabama, Kentucky and LSU.
