ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs are considerable favorites to beat Sam Pittman’s No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks

Bookmakers opened with Georgia as a massive 18-point favorite on FanDuel to beat the Hogs, who have wins over both Texas and Texas A&M. It was announced Sunday that ESPN would originate its popular College Gameday show from Athens before the top-ten showdown

While considerable, the line does not guarantee success for the Bulldogs. That line indicates the Bulldogs have around an 85% chance to win the contest. Both teams have won as underdogs this season.

Georgia has only been this significant a favorite over a top-ten team once in the last decade. That game during another contest that featured Gameday - the 2019 night game against Notre Dame

The No. 7 Irish were 16-point underdogs in Athens, but clawed their way into the fourth quarter, and had the ball at midfield on the final drive of the game before the Georgia defense stopped Ian Book and company once and for all.

Surprisingly, Georgia has played top-ten teams six times in the last ten years in Athens - winning all of those games. However, this is the earliest kickoff for Georgia against another ranked team since losing to No. 16 Georgia Tech in Athens in 2014.

The Bulldogs ran wild over the Commodores in Nashville on Saturday, rushing for over 240 yards and five touchdowns. Starting quarterback JT Daniels only played in the first quarter, but he was efficient and gave the Bulldog offense more explosiveness. He ended the game 9/10 for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

The defense played like the nation’s best and earned their first true shutout of the season. Georgia’s defense and special teams combined to force three total turnovers and helped get the Bulldogs out to a comfortable 35-0 lead after the first quarter. The Bulldogs would cruise to victory in easy fashion for the rest of the ballgame.

Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC) returns to action Saturday at home against Arkansas. Kickoff will be at Noon ET (ESPN).
