ATHENS - For the 2nd time this week, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have lost a commitment from one of their 5-star prospects.
First it was 5-star DL Bear Alexander, and now 5-star DB Deyon Bouie announced on his Instagram profile that he has opened up his recruitment as well.
“I am blessed and appreciative of all the offers and opportunities that Georgia has offered," Bouie posted on his IG story. "However, I believe I committed too early before I could explore all my other opportunities. With that being said, I am officially decommitting from the University of Georgia."
Both Alexander and Bouie were in College Station recently checking out Texas A&M, and both decided to take a step back in their recruitment.
This is a major loss for the Bulldogs as the Bainbridge native is one of the top overall athletes in the country. Sources say his recruitment will likely go down to the wire as this could be a roller coaster all thew way until Signing Day. Bouie is uncommitted at this time, but sources say the Aggies are the team with the most momentum at this time.
It’s not over just yet, and there’s still plenty of time for the Bulldogs to win Bouie over, but it’s never good to lose a commitment from an in-state talent like Bouie.
The Bulldogs still have two excellent defensive backs on the commit list in 5-star safety Malaki Starks and 4-star CB Marquis Groves-Killebrew.
