ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs’ annual game with the Florida Gators will be on national TV on CBS the network announced on Wednesday.
The move was expected. As usual, the game between the rivals will kick off at 3:30. CBS also announced doubleheaders on Saturday, Oct. 9 when the Bulldogs make a trip to Auburn. CBS will likely select Alabama-Texas A&M for the 8:00 PM game that night.
The following weekend will also feature a doubleheader when the Dawgs host Kentucky in Athens. Georgia’s game at Tennessee is a a very good candidate to be on CBS on November 13th.
Georgia’s opener with Clemson will be in primetime on ABC that network announced earlier this month.
Georgia’s annual game with the Gators, also known unofficially as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, has been a staple on CBS. The network has broadcast all but one of the game between the two rivals each year since 1996, when the network got the game-of-the-week rights for the SEC.
The Bulldogs are expected to be a top-five team coming into the 2021 season, which is head coach Kirby Smart’s sixth in Athens. JT Daniels returns for the Bulldogs after a close to the season that saw him take over the starting quarterback spot. He guided the Dawgs to a come-from-behind win over No. 8 Cincinnati to win the 2021 Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
Florida won last season’s contest with the Dawgs 44-28. Kirby Smart is 3-2 vs. the Gators in his time as the coach at UGA.
