UGA Gets 5-Star WR Demetris Robertson
ATHENS - This time Georgia got Demetris Robertson.
The former 5-star WR from Savannah said on socail media that he was transferring to Georgia from Cal after two seasons as a Golden Bear. It remains to be seen if Robertson will be able to play this fall at UGA. Typically transfer students are forced to miss a year of eligibility. In that case the Savannah native would have to sit a season and then play for the Bulldogs in 2019.
However, Robertson could apply for a hardship waiver to be closer to home. Multiple insiders say his mother’s health is declining, and his transfer is taking place in order to get closer to her.

Nonetheless Robertson is set to join a pair of consensus 5-star WRs Jadon Haselwood and Dominick Blaylock that fall. If that trio of 5-star receivers plays in Athens next fall it would mark the first time in school history that three 5-star receivers have been on the roster at the same time for the Bulldogs.
Robertson sat out much of his sophomore season at Berkley, but had a breakout freshman year for the Bears: 50 receptions for 767 yards and seven TDs.
Robertson transferring to the Dawgs comes just over two years after he picked Cal in an upset over Georgia at the College Football Hall of Fame weeks after 2016 Signing Day. He announced his transfer from Cal on June 21. He said “personal matters” were the reason he was transferring.
According to insiders, “Robertson is transferring because his mother’s illness has gotten very bad, and she may pass in the next 6-18 months.”
The Bulldogs bested Alabama, Texas and West Virginia to get Robertson this time. The Bulldogs now have 84 players on scholarship heading into fall camp this August, one shy of the NCAA-mandated mark of 85.
