David Pollack Has Strong Words About UGA QB Jamie Newman
ATHENS - Former UGA All-American and ESPN college football analyst David Pollack had some strong words about UGA QB Jamie Newman.
“I think (Newman) has a huge year and will be a first-round pick in next year's NFL Draft,” Pollack said Thursday morning on ESPN’s “Get Up”. “There is going to be a lot of (publicity) about him and the train will continue to roll.”
Newman and the Bulldogs were not able to have spring practice in March and April after COVID-19 shut down practices for all NCAA institutions in mid March. Still, it looks like Newman is going to have his chance to shine this fall as things continue to line up for the Bulldogs and the rest of college football to return to the gridiron in September.
Newman transferred to UGA from Wake Forrest, which Pollack says will give him the chance to shine.
“Newman is a kid that was in the ACC and wasn't talked about much because played at a school that wasn't paid attention to at Wake Forest,” Pollack said. “He’s a big, physical, strong kid. He's 6-3, 225 pounds - really good athlete who also makes ridiculous throws. Now he goes to Georgia with driving a Ferrari.”
Newman ended his career at Wake going 220 of 361 for 2,868 yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
