J.R. Reed: "I Won't Be Able to Compete" in the Sugar Bowl
NEW ORLEANS - J.R. Reed has played his final game as a Bulldog.
Saturday afternoon, J.R. Reed confirmed the news Dawg Post broke about the senior not playing in his final game as a Bulldog.
“It has been an honor to compete for the University of Georgia these past few years. Thank all of you for all of the support. Although it was my full intent to play one last game with my brothers in the Sugar Bowl, unfortunately I won't be able to compete,” Reed said in a statement.
“Due to a minor foot injury in practice this week that has inhibited me from playing I have decided to rest my body and prepare for what's to come.”
“Nobody I more disappointed about this than me, but I know my brothers will hold it down. I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates and especially the fans for supporting me 100%.”
Reed is one of a slew of players expected to miss the 2020 Sugar Bowl for the Bulldogs due to injuries, academics or NFL Draft preparations. The Bulldogs are still favored to win the game with Baylor, but instead of being listed as an 8.5-point favorite, UGA is now being listed as a six-point favorite.
