Treyaun Webb said he committed to Georgia on Tuesday.
Webb is a freshman in high school, and is considered an athlete for recruiting purposes right now. The 6-foot, 188-pound star from Jacksonville’s Trinity Christian told Dawg Post earlier in the year that he loved his visit to Athens to see UGA.
“I loved it. Coach Dell Mcgee was the best and an awesome coach. It was just amazing. We watched film, created a bond. It’s a blessing to only be in the 8th grade and have offers. I loved the coaching staff, and it just felt like home,” he told Dawg Post.

On Tuesday he backed up his feeling that UGA is home by deciding to commit to Georgia as a ninth grader.
“I have prayed, and I took a lot into consideration,” Webb said. “I’ve decided to find a home early, and I am blessed to say that I have found one. My dream school has always been the University of Georgia, and they have shown nothing but loyalty in this process. I am blessed to say that I am verbally committed to the University of Georgia.
The move makes Webb the first commitment of UGA’s class of 2023. The freshman wrapped up his first season of high school football over the weekend.
“I was excited and very surprised,” Webb said of getting an offer from UGA earlier in the year. “It was a blessing be offered by the real RBU. I watch a lot of Georgia games. I loved watching Sony Michel, Nick Chubb and Todd Gurley.”
