Dawg Post is counting down the Top 50 UGA players of all time through the summer. Keep checking back eat weekday to see who we have next…

No. 49 - Bacarri Rambo, DB from Seminole County

When talking about some of the most productive Georgia safeties in history, Bacarri Rambo’s name has to be in the conversation. The former three-star safety from Seminole County committed to Georgia on February 19th, 2007 and signed with Georgia in their 2008 recruiting class.

Rambo played a little bit as a freshman in 2008, recording 25 tackles and two interceptions. But it was the 2010 season, and the transition from Willie Martinez’s time as defensive coordinator to Todd Grantham’s when Rambo became one of Georgia’s best defenders. His blocked punt against Texas A&M in the 2009 Independence Bowl helped the Bulldogs blow out the Aggies. Rambo took his game to another level in 2011. As a junior, he totaled 55 tackles and 8 interceptions which led the SEC. Rambo’s eight interceptions led the SEC and ranked second nationally. A consensus All-SEC first team selection, he was fifth on the team in tackles with 55. As a senior, Rambo led the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship Game and Georgia’s best season since 2005. Rambo made 73 total tackles in 2012 with three more interceptions. His 16 career interceptions are tied for 3rd all-time in the SEC. He was named SEC Player of the Week for his performance against Tech in 2012.

Rambo’s 16 career interceptions at UGA is tied with Jake Scott and Dominick Sanders as most for the career of any Bulldog. His 157 interception return yards in 2011 is third all time at UGA.

Perhaps his most notable interception came in Georgia’s lopsided 45-7 win over No. 24 Auburn in Athens. He took the pick to the house as the Sanford Stadium crowd screamed with delight. Georgia never looked back, and the route was on. Rambo was named as a First-Team All-American in 2011 after that season.

Rambo was selected in the 6th round of the 2013 draft by the Washington Redskins with the 191st overall pick. Rambo struggled as a rookie and was released just over a year later in September of 2014. A month later, Rambo was picked up by the Bills and his luck began to turn around. Less than a month from being picked up by the Bills, Rambo picked off two Aaron Rogers passes and led the Bills to a big 21-13 win over the Packers.

Rambo’s best game might come in week 10 of the 2015 season where he was named ACF defensive player of the week. Rambo forced two fumbled and recorded one interception of Ryan Fitzpatrick to lead the Bills to a 22-17 win over the rival New York Jets.

In 5 NFL seasons, Rambo recorded 151 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, 11 pass deflections, and four interceptions.
