You're right, 'Ballad of Hank Williams' by Hank Williams, Jr. was a fun song

'Something Current' by Ross Ellis isn't showing up on Spotify for me to listen to

You gotta see it live. There are some super talented musicians in country music. Brad Paisley is one of the best guitar players you'll ever see, and Keith Urban isn't too shabby either. Some of these artists can really sing and play - and sometimes their best stuff doesn't make the radio (or isn't played much).

I used to not be a country fan - other than a few songs here and there. But have grown to love and appreciate it. My 2 favorite kinds of music are rap and country. They tell the best stories and write the best music most of the time.

The older stuff is really good - Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Ralph Stanley - and some newe artists are strong too. Some new country is too "pop" or overproduced" (bro country is often recycled and more done to make money).

Go to a couple of shows with an open mind and see what you think.

I love a rainy night...good stuff right there.

I like the the country music that borders on southern rock. Eric Church (Creepin) and Jason Aldean (She's Country) are pretty good.

I spent three summers in Hahira, GA working on a farm suckering/cropping tobacco, picking yellow squash, zucchini, okra, etc. and was exposed to a lot of country music then. In 1997 I attended a country music concert at a casino in Biloxi, MS.

In 1985 I saw LL Cool J, Whodini, and Run-D.M.C. in concert in San Antonio. If my ride would have gotten me there on time, I would have also seen Timex Social Club and the Beastie Boys. Some of my favorite hip hop/rap songs:

Never heard of Ryan Adams, Todd Snider, or John Prine before so I gave them a listen. I like the songs 'Come Pick Me Up', 'English Girls Approximately', and 'Tennessee Sucks' by Ryan Adams, and 'I Can't Complain' by Todd Snider. John Prine has a great voice.

The last live show I saw before everything shut down was Childers and Sturgill Simpson at Gwinnett Arena. Only wished it was a smaller venue. I had tickets to see him a couple years ago at Variety Playhouse and still regret selling them. He puts on a great show.

Need to get you to a Tedeschi Trucks Band or Marcus King Band show then.

I've probably listened to Marcus Kings' last album, El Dorado, 100 times since it came out in Jan 2020. I think he was my top artist on Spotify for the year.
