I'd be OK with "Chico's Bail Bonds" replacing the name strips. Bad news Dawgs.ssidedawg said:
Some of you are some miserable SOB's.
They will probably wear a Dooley patch but you guys think its will the be University of Antifa now. Good grief this site has become sad.
I think I'd hope for the proverbial meteor strike in that scenario.gemdog said:

My point is they announce this patch idea and folks sprint to some social statement garbage. Why can't it be something cool or nostalgic....nah. BLM patches for all! Lol.

Do you really think that is not what it is going to be? The NBA has already begun.

The point is who cares? This nonsense that BLM is an "armed" whatever (it isn't). Or a Marxist or Communist organization (it isn't). Or that it's mission is to destroy America is patently ridiculous. I listened to a podcast state that BLM says on their website that they are these things (Matt Shea's Patriot radio episode 221) and simultaneously read the About Us section of their website where none of that rhetoric existed.
These "agitators" in large part aren't seeking to destroy the nuclear family. All but one of the folks I've met or known HAVE nuclear families of their own, are married with regular jobs and organize on the side. I can't speak to the younger folks
Are there MARXIST among the Black rank and file of BLM? No. Are there SOCIALISTS among them? Absolutely. The two are not the same.
Are the BLM founders Socialists and anti capitalism? Probably.
I know people who organize for that group. We argue about everything except our intended goals- which is a happy family with an equal chance for continued pursuit of happiness.
None of those people own guns. They give me grief for my gun collection. None of those people are ANTIFA. They openly opine about having to control radical violent leftist and right wing groups looking to join ranks of protests.
And still...who cares? All lives matter, sure. That is a given, even from members of BLM. But we are talking about Black lives at the moment. I don't go to a Breast Cancer walk and scream "All Cancer matters!" Wear your pink ribbon. I am not offended just because my father had prostate cancer.
I'm more concerned about the Boogaloo boys and the Aryan nation folks that are embedded in protests, and contributing to seeding violence.
These folks are not just RUMORED to sew violence but are ACTUALLY shooting cops during this unrest. They're recruiting directly from the military.

I'm worried about all the people caught on camera destroying things and then sprsying BLM graiffi while actual protestors BEG them not to destroy things.
Like the woman who burnt the Atlanta Wendy's down and the man they just caught who broke the windows of the AutoZone in Minneapolis. https://www.foxnews.com/us/minneapolis-umbrella-man-autozone-fire-hells-angels-police
We need to get a hold of all of this weird rhetoric that is factually untrue, misleading and very dangerous. If you polled UGA football players I'm willing to bet that 70% or more of the black players either support BLM or have protested in some way in alliance with them.
You want them off the team? Fine. Then find and recruit a black person that doesn't support the idea that government employees who's salary citizens pay for, should not harass or engage in police brutality with impunity.
It's wrong for ANYbody to be brutalized in that manner. But black folks, no matter their legal standing or personal choices, fair far worse. That's worth a friggin patch.
I appreciate your perspective Firebrand.Firebrand said:Dirteater Dawg said:ssidedawg said:

I know people who organize for that group. They are regular boring, typical Americans you'd see at the church potluck. We argue about everything except our intended goals- which is a happy family with an equal chance for continued pursuit of happiness.

Well said and the context is appreciated.Firebrand said:
It's definitely a mixed bag and that's why it's dangerous. That said, folks forget that it was in the 60s as well. And MlK was the most hated man in America at that time.
John Lewis led SNCC but most forget why he was ousted from that group. They were very militant. Stokely Carmichael and HRap Brown were that groups leaders after Bond and Lewis. Their militancy is infamous.
So you had militants, NAACP, Catholic and Jewish orgs, other independent folks who teamed with the freedom riders, sclc, sncc and unaffiliated people involved in the marches of that era
We remember the sit-ins but not the Orangeburg massacre, or Jackson state. We forget the killings of freedom riders that also sparked retribution. All apart of or adjacent to the work MLK and the non violent part of the civil rights movement worked on.
They trained, they preached and worked on non violent protest but that only scales within your given organization. It doesn't account for splinter group unsanctioned activity which happened both then and now.
That's why I don't like us cherry picking or rose colored memories of past or recent present because they cloud our judgement.
I don't agree with some of the rhetoric I hear from frustrated/angry/tired black folks. Stuff like saying any group of humans are evil is disgusting to me. I can't abide it
That said, the overwhelming majority of people associated with the protests aren't racists. Problem is the company they keep.
I dunno where all of this lands. But we've got to get a grasp of this thing
I hate to see this happen here. This isn't supposed to be happening here. Breaks my heart.
