The good news is, in (insert time frame that the virus lasts), when they all test negative they have immunity for (insert random amount of months which is currently the number)!
I have read that number is 3 months after positive test, but who knows?!

Definitely more than three, considering there are still no officially documented cases of reinfection now 6 months after this started. By the law of averages we should have had ateast a couple by now, and you know the media would trumpet this if it did happen. What this really proves is what I have been saying all along, there is nothing you can do to stop this virus so we all just need to learn to live with it. It's like rain, or sunshine, or volcanoes. The sooner we all come to grips with this the sooner we can all get back to normal.
Dang.... I probably should have held off on that MLB TV all-game subscription yesterday.
If they cancel because of this then that means they were never serious about playing non the first place
So, Marlins need to forfeit games and the season goes on.

Fwiw I think mlb powers through this, but if it happens again or worsens it'll get shut down
If MLB doesn't work, I have a hard time seeing college football happening. Logistics for it are arguably harder than any other sports league.

It sucks, but I think its time for people to accept this.
My question is how did all of these players get it given all of the precautions taken & frequency of testing over the past several weeks?

Sounds like the teams involved are going to take a couple days to let the media frenzy calm down and assess the situation and then determine the next steps. As it should be. The reporters urging Mlb to cancel the season (looking at you Craig Calcaterra) are being completely irresponsible and hysteric. That would be quite rash to do two hours after one team has an outbreak.
Edit: not sure hot to peg a tweet but Jon Heyman is reporting that there are no serious discussions on canceling the season which is g pod, as well as that they marlins are asking around about extra MLB quality players, another good sign that shows even the marlins think this can be powered through. This might end up being good as teams will be extra careful.

Because the money outweighed the cost. What did MLB really do that costs out of pocket money? Almost nothing. They have to buy tests.
Sure, they are forgetting fans at games and the revenue that brings. However, that doesn't actually cost more than if they just didn't play because of COVID.
As for bubbles, obviously, if you never interact with a person who has the virus, you will never get it. You can only achieve this through a very strict bubble.
Is the NBA bubble actually going to work? I have my doubts.

2. Why they, a pro sport, are not in a bubble like soccer and the nba is hard for me to understand
3. Doesn't each team have 30 playera off elsewhere ready to go?
Cancel the games. Take a three day break or whatever and keep it going.
Now. If this is widespread that's another thing

If you have a mask on and it isn't covering your nose you aren't wearing a face mask. You are wearing a mouth mask. Not the same.
If you are only "sort of" going to do this right it's only going to sort of work.

I do as well but it will work better than baseball.

I don't see why the 25 teams completely unaffected by this need to postpone. You are correct that they have another training camp in a "bubble" in Florida ready to go, however, these are mostly inexperienced minor leaguers or major league washouts so teams want to avoid using these. I struggle to see why the dodgers and giants should cancel because of an outbreak in philly though.
The idea that you can wear a mask effectively while participating in a MLB game is crazy.
We need to give up on the mask thing for sports. It's not a real solution in anyway.

What if the bubble has a crappy HVAC system, and the virus somehow gets caught in the fans and mixes with asbestos or gets mixed up with an old bottle of round-up weed killer?

I was meaning MLB. It seemed like they said a.test is not required for 3 months after a positice test.
