Domestic cats and ferrets can also get it. A cat in Belgium caught it from the owner (who was positive) and became symptomatic a week later. A study in China showed that cat's can transmit the virus to naive cats via aerosol. Still no proof that people can get it from cats but that scenario would be unusual since cats are mostly indoor only pets. However, for veterinarians like myself, the risk has to be taken seriously.
