ATHENS - When Kirby Smart hired Sam Pittman to coach Georgia’s offensive line, that was the start of it all.
The start of building a college football powerhouse. Smart and Pittman turned what was a major weakness at times in the Mark Richt era, to one of the elite groups across college football.
When Sam Pittman left for Arkansas, Matt Luke came in and picked up right where Pittman left off. Georgia’s line continued to thrive under Luke, and we’re seeing the same now with Stacy Searels.
Searels signed six massive linemen in the 2024 class and has a commitment from four-star guard Mason Short in the current 20225 class.
Dawg Post expects Searels to sign five linemen in this cycle, meaning there are at least four more spots available.
Who else are the Dawgs looking to sign? Where does Searles and Georgia sit with some of their top targets at the moment?
Let’s take a look...
David Sanders - Providence Day (NC)
A truly elite offensive tackle with a lean 6-foot-6 275-pound frame, Sanders brings a physical style of play, but he also moves really well and flashes elite athleticism for his size. Dawg Post was told over a year ago that Sanders was the No. 1 target on their board at the position.
Georgia continues to be firmly in the mix for Sanders, but sources say Tennessee and Ohio State are two teams trending, along with South Carolina where Sanders was this past weekend. Sanders was in Athens for a big visit in mid-March and will be back for an official visit the weekend of June 7th.
Sanders is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect and the No. 1 OT. Right now, it appears Georgia has a little ground to make up.
Josh Petty - Fellowship Christian
Like Sanders, Petty is a lean, athletic lineman with plenty of muscle. A two-way standout for the Paladins, Petty is also a wrestling star who knows how to get his opponents on the ground. At 6-foot-4 270-pounds, Petty is high on Georgia’s board, but this second it looks like Georgia has some work to do. Clemson and Auburn are two teams to keep an eye on, along with Notre Dame. Petty is familiar with Athens and was in town in mid-March, but we have not been able to confirm an official visit with Georgia just yet. Still, he’s one to keep a close eye on until he commits. Petty is ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect in the country.

Juan Gaston Jr- Westlake
A mountain of a lineman at 6-foot-8 340-pounds, Gaston Jr. is a powerful four-year starter for Westlake who brings a big, physical presence. He comes from an athletic family and also dominates on the hardwood when he’s not serving up pancakes on the gridiron. He shows eye-opening athleticism for his size and will only get better when he hits the strength and conditioning program at the next level. Right now, Dawg Post believes Georgia leads Tennessee for the big Atlanta native. He's ranked as the No. 173 offensive line prospect in the country.
Cortez Smith – Parkview
One of the state’s top true interior offensive line prospects, Smith is a tough, physical lineman with a thick, muscular frame at 6-foot-3 280-pounds. The Parkview lineman can play guard or center at the next level and clearly has Georgia’s attention. He’s an excellent pass-protector from the inside and a true mauler in the run game. He has an impressive offer list, but this second, Dawg Post feels good about Georgia’s chances to land the impressive in-state lineman. Smith is no stranger to Athens and will be back in town for an official visit the weekend of June 21st. He’s ranked as the No. 141 overall prospect in the country.
Dontrell Glover - Langston Hughes
A former Auburn commitment, Glover is a guy the Georgia staff is high on, but where is he exactly on their board? He may not be at the top, but if he wants to jump on board, sources say Georgia would seriously think about giving him the green light to jump on board. He’s excellent in the run game and consistently opened up holes on the left side for the last two season. As a sophomore, Glover helped anchor a Langston Hughes offense that carved up defenses on their way to a 6A state title. He’s ranked as the No. 292 overall prospect in the country for the 2025 class.
Other linemen to know include:
5-star Solomon Thomas (FSU commit)
5-star OL Michael Fasusi
4-star Ziyare Addison
4-star Jaelyne Matthews
4-star Nick Brooks
4-star Damola Ajidahun
