We are neither as good as we looked shooting the ball Saturday (67% from the field and 71% from 3) nor as bad shooting the ball last night (31% from the field and just over 50% for the FT line). After Saturday, we wondered how a team can win a game with 26 TOs. After last night, we are wondering how we lose a game where we outrebound our opponents by 20+. Well, great shooting cures many ills, and very poor shooting is extremely difficult to overcome. I hesitate to draw any conclusions about this team from any one game. The truth is somewhere in the middle between Saturday and last night. Honestly, we are just a mediocre team. We have extreme highs and lows. BTW, did anyone see that the UT team we beat on Saturday defeated Kansas last night?

Agree.

Eliminate 5 or 6 turnovers, we probably win.

Hit a normal free throw percentage, we probably win.

Do both, we win going away.

The shots we took were generally good shots, found within the flow of the offense. The defense we played was much improved. Low basketball IQ continues to be problematic. Turtle's turnover at the end of the first half was emblematic of this entire season. Just a terrible play by a senior that gifted 2 points to the other team.

There is enough talent to win a couple more games, but I remain optimistic about what we'll see over the next few years as kids are trained up in Crean's system.

Yes, this was a very winnable game. I just think "low IQ" players are gonna make "low IQ" plays. Recruiting should correct the problem, but we just have to be patient. Perhaps this is why Fox seemed like such a control freak. He kept the team playing slow to minimize the decisions the players had to make. We ran a ton of sets or set plays where there just wasn't much thinking or reacting necessary. Still. we turned the ball over, even playing slow, at an alarming rate and have done so for years. We just don't have guys who are consistent enough to play the way Crean wants us to. Certainly, we won't go winless the rest of the season, but the pundits and media who predicted us 13th in the conference in preseason turned out to be pretty accurate.

We'll get hot again, maybe not against Texas hot, but hot enough to win a couple of more games to get to 3-15 or maybe 4-14.

A starting lineup of Turtle, Tyree, Claxton, Ogbeide & Hammonds with Harris, Hightower, Wilridge, Ngumezi and Fagan as subs should be much closer to a .500 conference team. I'm not a fan of the throwing this season away to show recruits a certain style of play and/or blame it all on how badly Fox left our program talk. Coach to win, simple as that.

Yeah, they call it "Basketball " and not "Reboundball" for a reason.

In back to back games, we had 26 TOs at home and won and outrebounded our opponents on the road by 24 and lost. Nuts.... All comes down to putting the biscuit in the basket.
