By the way, unclear what time the game is - first it says 1:30, elsewhere it says 5 p.m.

During yesterday's broadcast one of the announcers mentioned that today's game would be played at 5 p.m. EST. Fwiw, this article also states that UGA vs. Georgia State will tip-off then:

Yeah, Everything I've seen on it says 5:00. Since it's 4:15 now and I don't see any score on it, I'm assuming that's correct. LOL.

At any rate, this is a fairly big game for us. Georgia State has been crowing about them being the best team in the State of Georgia for a while now, so it'd be nice to put a little kibosh on that. Also ESPN has them ranked at 65 in the BPI, where we are 93, giving them a 57.7% win probability. So any win over a higher BPI team will be good for the program, and right now we need all the help we can get.

Wow, that score is pretty shocking. It was 84-49 before a "late Dawg run". Glad I didn't find a way to watch that debacle. Maybe GSU is the best team in the state? Is Mercer 2nd? They only lost by 2 (62-60) to GSU a couple of weeks ago.

UGA has exponentially better talent than either, especially Mercer. Just no excuse to get embarrassed like that.

Ga St just use to shooting in small gyms, I guess. Their 3 point shooting was the difference maker in this game. Everything else stat wise was pretty close. We have 10 more to's, but get 9 more rebounds. The 14-25 3 pt stat would kill most teams.

The reason they were able to shoot so well from 3 was because they were largely unguarded all night. Most of those shots were effectively uncontested. The defense was atrocious. Non-existent. Just really, really bad.

5 straight turnovers (sloppy) leading to 5 straight GSU buckets (terrible defense) foreshadowed how the night would go pretty well.

Georgia played about 20 good minutes of basketball in that whole tournament. I'm certainly not down on the new staff (this stuff takes time), but there weren't a whole lot of positives to take away. Lots of work to do. Everyone needs to get better.

Now is the time when we're going to have to be patient I guess.

I think our guys are not in the type of shape that this new system requires. Some of them have actually said as much. Coach Crean has been commenting that we need to get back on defense just as quick as we get down on offense.

We are about to play some very good teams. The team is learning on the fly and slowly working into game shape. We won't know what we've got til at least late January.

I've waited 16 years. I can wait another year or two. This year doesn't look promising but I hope we start to notice improvement week to week.

It's already more fun to me than it has been since the Tony Cole stuff started.

I am kind of disappointed in Coach Scott. I thought Crean brought him in as his defensive specialist. Defense is defense. No excuse in having this bad of defense after a couple of months of "new" coaching.

This 24 debacle isn't good at all and it is, IMHO, and indicator of things to come. 24 points is a true idictment of GA State's claim of being gthe kings of GA in B-Ball. I am sure nobody is questioning that now and UGA better pull the BIG boys' underwear bcose it is gonna be ugly going forward. Hope I am mistake and that GA State is that and more. But, boy..................................!!

Really one of the worst performances by a UGA basketball team I've ever seen. TOs galore, swinging gate defense, poor shot selection.... I can't think of anything positive from the game.

Many of those shots were completely unguarded. They shot very well, but they were usually wide open.
