1st home loss....

A raucous crowd and a hot start couldn't prevent a collapse in the 2nd half. Bama starts 4 guards and 1 big; they play essentially a 5 out system with dribble drive elements. They are difficult to match up with. We hit big shot after big shot in the 1st half and raced out to a big lead, but we lost our momentum. After playing with great confidence in the 1st half, I thought we were very tentative in the 2nd and became moreso as the lead dribbled away. We committed too many careless TOs (19 for the game - a season high) and made some dumb plays as the game went on. Cain's dunk attempt, for example, should have just been a layup. We had a size advantage that we failed to take advantage of for most of the game. Many of our mistakes can be corrected though, and we proved competitive with one of the top teams (the top scoring team) in the conference. If we could maintain our confidence and focus for 40 minutes, we can compete with almost anyone.... I'm not convinced we have enough talent yet to play a full 40 against a top team though.

Your last sentence is the rub. Either White has essentially overachieved getting us on the W precipice against UT, FL and Bama, or he needs to show he can coach a team across the finish line.

I don't know the immediate current answer on this squad.

Disappointed in the loss and not able to hold onto a big lead. But good seeing RJ start and James getting minutes.

2nd home loss, unfortunately, and both sellouts...

Assuming some key kids stick around, next year could finally be special. This year, my fear is that we "are what we are," and what we are is a team of fighters and scrappers with no stars and one too few point guards.

It's not the worst thing in the world to have a team that plays with the spirit and fight this one plays with, but ultimately, talent is limiting. Bama has at least one legit star. So does Tennessee. And those stars did what stars do.

At this point, we have to win out at home to hope for meaningful postseason play. I don't think there is much margin for error. We have successfully avoided bad losses, but we need to find a couple more good wins or it's NIT bubble for us.

I think you are 100%. I was hoping in November that we were more. Still games to play.

I keep hoping they'll prove me wrong (for a full 40 minutes). They haven't yet.

As you say, still plenty of season left.
