Objectively UTurd prob better than us at 1-5 but this team of freshman and mid major and D2 transfers has fight and moxy. But I could feel the UTurd smothering perimeter defense late from my sofa. And still we were right there. White needs to keep recruiting but he's got the x and o's down. I'll also admit back in the day I never thought Barnes was all that or would succeed at UT. Still not sure how but props I guess.
Just hope this is a confidence builder and does not tank us short term.
Props to anyone who had The Steg rocking. Would love to hear your observations and thoughts!
Mike White said it was "the loudest he's heard the building," and even if he's just saying it to praise the fans, it was definitely loud...even in my new home way up in the nosebleeds. I wrecked my voice for the rest of the day.
I was also pleased that there wasn't
too much orange in the building. Predictably, a few dozen of our great new fans who took the premium seats unloaded them to UT fans, but there weren't enough in the building to take over as has happened in the past.
I'm in year 10 as a season ticket holder, and that's at least the third time we've
almost beaten a top 5 team. At some point,
almost wins have to become actual wins. Knecht was phenomenal - we had no answer - but it also felt like the first time all season we panicked.
Two in a row on the road, and we'll be underdogs in both. Win one of them and the season is still on a nice trajectory.
Go Dawgs.
