I find it impossible to keep up with what roster spots we will have open from year to year anymore with the extra COVID year and the portal. But we have to make significant upgrades to our talent level to compete. The 2 signees are a decent start, but we need size, athletic ability and shooters to improve our position in the conference and become relevant. I assume we will dip into the portal once again (and perhaps every year) to try to upgrade. I have been somewhat surprised that we haven't made more of a splash w/ HS kids in GA and elsewhere. Maybe White and staff haven't had time to make an impression yet. I hope that's the answer. We have perennially been a difficult place to recruit to, and NIL does us no favors. Until we prioritize basketball, we may never see significant improvement. It seems that if we can't blow kids away with NIL potential, we will lose more than we get.

My best guess is we have to sign a minimum of seven to get to the 13 for next season. Assuming we don't lose any transfers. I think we are only carrying 11 scholarship players currently.

So, we have the two HS commits. I don't think there is any way we don't hit the portal.

Regretfully, when you add seven - or more - its effectively a total roster turnover. Square One.

My guess is White & Co, will start to bear fruit from the GA high school scene starting this Fall/the 24 class.

Right, I forgot we were already down a player or two, and then Lindsay left, so that's 3. I just don't know how many on the current roster use up their eligibility. I'm sure Ingram is done; I think Bridges is done; McBride is a 5th year SR; Roberts and Etter are seniors, though I think Roberts could come back. There are more underclassmen than you might think. I assume any JRs who graduate could transfer. I just have no idea on the numbers.

For Senior Day today they list Bridges, McBride, Ingram and Roberts (and Etter) as seniors. So barring additional offseason transfers I think we got four to sign to join the two existing commits. Almost a studs up rebuild.

I suspect there will be more attrition that just the graduates. Many of these guys look they have packed it in. If players don't have a better winning mentality than that, I don't want them back. I think we will be heavily in the portal market.

I have no choice but to trust that White & Co. knows what is what. But this team is mentally defeatist at the first sign of adversity. That or we literally had no business winning half the games we have won and this roster is wholly void of SEC talent. Losing is one thing, getting absolutely housed now game after game is otherwise inexcusable. I mean it was 41-40 at the half.

Pretty sure there are guys who could come back that White doesn't want back. I suspect a lot of turnover.
