I didn't think either team played very well. Oquendo completely disappeared, and he ended the game on the pine. Neither team shot well at all, but UGA shot its FTs exceptionally well, and Justin Hill hit a couple of late 3s to allow UGA to pull away. MSU is very physical but not very skilled. The game was neck and neck the whole way until the last few minutes when UGA did just enough. Surprisingly, we outrebounded them 47-39. I wouldn't have predicted that before the game. The 1st half shooting by both teams was awful (MSU 21.9%, UGA 20%) with the 2nd half being a bit better for both teams (MSU 37.9%, UGA 40.9%). Offensively, the big difference was at the line, where MSU was an atrocious 7-22 and we shot 25-31 (80.6%) - that's really where we won the game. Our 18 TOs is just not acceptable - many of those were just carelessness. We can't keep making those mistakes as we get deeper in conference play. We got nothing offensively from McBride or Oquendo (who both started) or from Anselem and Ingram and only foul shots from JAR, who is stellar at the line but spotty from the field. I don't see winning many games with such offensive failure as we go forward. Our offense is not creating good, open shots at the moment, with most coming from drives, prayers and hoped-for fouls. I hope we correct that quickly.
