Is it routine to address players by text in today's coaching world? I see nothing wrong with what Crean said but it should be face to face.

Not sure. Personally, I would never reprimand anyone via email or text. It may be the same message but it feels different written. If he was saying it in person or on the phone, there is no reason to say it again via text. And if they weren't speaking face to face, well, that is a problem. I am sure there are good amount of text exchanges, but rarely with such directness and harsh tone. Clearly there were relationship issues. It is unfortunate. Besides the talent deficiencies, it is probably why we were so up and down from game to game and half to half within games.

Yep, this situation shows a clear lack of leadership and understanding personal relationships. You can't lead by text. Just stupid and petty to text stuff like that to a player.
