This joe sock guy is super insightful.

i have been trying to identify our worst team this century.
we have had a few bad ones.
i narrowed it down to three.
2005. 2-14 conference . post harrick . sundiata gaines and stukes were the only real players.
2019. 2-16 conference. good frontcourt and the worst backcourt ever. claxton talented.
2022. 0-6 conference. i struggle to find a strength. pretty decent transfer class with experience?

which is the weakest?

This years team by a mile. That 2019 group would smoke this one. I don't believe Hightower, Jackson, Crump & Harris are the worst backcourt ever. Along with Claxton, Ogbeide and Hammonds, most had that team in the middle of the pack and a possible bubble team. 2-16 caught everyone off guard, whether they wanna admit it or not. This transfer class was never close to "pretty decent". I said in October that this was the worst assemblage of talent I have ever seen, not just at Georgia, but on any SEC team in my memory. And that's what we have. It was blatantly obvious coming into the season. That said, I still think we'll win one.
Crean will leave here at 15-57 or 14-58 and supplant Felton (26-59) as our worst coach ever.

i agree this team is worse than 2019.
they had one of the best frontcourts in recent memory.
however , if you go 2-16 and your frontcourt was ok, that
means the backcourt was terrible.
crump was a shooing guard that couldnt shoot
and jackson was a point guard that couldnt handle pressure.

compare them to 2005. look at that roster and the lopsided scores.
sundiata gaines was one of my favorite players ever but he was a freshman.

Crean's first team did have the best post presence of his era thanks mostly to Claxton. Hammonds and Ogbeide provided contributions as well. Unfortunately, the guard play was abysmal. How much of that was lack of ability vs. difficulty adjusting to Crean and his system is unknown. Hightower, Crump, Harris and Jackson were basically the same guys statistically under Fox and Crean, however. That inferior guard play mostly revealed itself in the team's dismal three point shooting (29.5% in league play) and general inability to score (64.7 points per game in the SEC).

Contrast the guards that Crean inherited with what Musselman and Oats inherited at Arkansas and Alabama. The difference is eye opening and yet rarely ever mentioned by anyone when evaluating the current situations. Of course Crean eventually did secure some SEC-level difference makers in Edwards, Wheeler and KD. He just didn't have them for very long...

Great points, TK. I have often lamented the roster Crean inherited, only to be shouted down. The roster was sorely lacking in SEC-level talent.

Thank you. I will start another thread that illustrates this in more detail.

Several points made there for sure but neither of you gave an answer to the question as to which team is the weakest…?? Surely you don't compare the 2019 & 2022 rosters and think this years team is more talented?

I just think the comparison is unnecessary. Bad is bad.
