Up six at halftime against the cocks. First few minutes here are key. 9 1/2 point dog today, surely we cover. We're currently 5-12-1 ATS. The last three games have come down to the last possession and we've failed to cover each time.

Nope. Down 7. Sorry. Make that 12. Crean is such a good in game coach.

Up by 7 and let them go on a 24-0 run. Good coaching there Tom. Honestly see why most players left for other schools.

That ATS #, now 5-13-1, is shocking. Even with the hefty points we're getting, we can't cover. I still believe we win one somewhere, maybe even two. Hard to accept that we could end up 5-26, not that 7-24 is much better.

Yea. I don't see us winning another game. It sucks for the guys. Hate they come to play for such a bad coach.

I sent a text to a buddy of mine saying we lost after a 24-0 run. He wrote back saying "Is that even possible?" I wrote him back, "You HAVE watched us play this year, right?"

I wish our fans showed this much passion when we win a game. Happy times. :-)

There was plenty of excitement when we beat Memphis, currently #77. Our other four wins are:

#236 FIU
#311 SC St
#228 Jaxonville
#293 W Carolina

Not really the kind of wins to celebrate.

We won 1 meaningful game this year.

I guess I'm about 3% excited about the season.

I'm happy for you Sid.
I like the positive things I'm watching even with the losses. Awesome free throw shooting yesterday. Incredible actually. Our team played another good first half. Wish we could play a whole game like that. Wright is playing well. It's good to see Taylor playing some. There are two players who never play that I would love to see play a good bit going forward.

I am in no way defending surrendering a 24-0 run. It's inexplicable, particularly because they played quite well for about 30 minutes. Crean's gotta do better in that moment to get the bleeding stopped. I don't mean to constantly make IU comparisons, but the same propensity for prolonged scoring droughts plagued Archie Miller's IU teams.

As far as the overall team dynamic, team confidence, etc., you simply cannot understate the loss of the Georgia's two best forwards to ACL tears. They never had Horne and they haven't had Ingram since right after the Memphis game. I know some people hate hypotheticals and they look at everything as an excuse, but those were monumental injuries for this squad. Would this team be "good" with those two guys? Likely not. Would a handful of these losses turned into wins? It's realistic to think so.

Yep, we were so close to having a 3-15 or maybe even 4-14 season.

I don't know about 3-15 or 4-14 considering that this team could arguably have beaten Texas A&M, Mississippi St, Vanderbilt and South Carolina to this point. I'm not saying that all of those would have happened, but Georgia either outplayed those teams for significant stretches or was dead even with them for long periods. Interior defense, rebounding and additional offensive flexibility have all suffered. The presence of its two best forwards would certainly make a difference on both ends of the floor.

Go ahead and remove two starters or a starter and his chief backup who also plays significant minutes from ANY team in the country. What would happen? Surely teams like Gonzaga, Baylor, Kansas, Auburn, etc. would probably still be really good. But to think that they wouldn't suffer some is irrational. It's not an excuse. It's reality. Georgia had little margin for error to begin with. Then it lost arguably its two most experienced, most physically built for SEC players.

We were the unanimous pick for last place before those injuries. With those injuries we could go 0-18. This was mid-major talent from the summer on and it was and is blatantly obvious. The talent out vs talent in this year was an extreme negative for UGA. KD Johnson at Auburn, Wheeler at Kentucky, Kier at Arizona, Fagan at Ole Miss, Camara at Dayton. The guys we brought in do not compare. Bridges has been a nice surprise and Oquendo has flashes, but as a whole it is a huge drop off in talent from the 2021 team.

I don't really care about pre-season predictions. I'm not disagreeing that the net exchange was a negative. It's not really just a talent switch, however. It's the total newness combined with the immediate injuries to Horne and Ingram that really makes it hard. Bridges, Oquendo, Ingram, Baumann, Abdur-Rahim, Cook and Wright are nice players. If given the proper time to grow, there is something there. Unfortunately, nobody seems to understand how difficult it is to mesh and then learn to deal without two of your better players.

As someone else stated, it's a shame that everyone of importance a year ago transferred. I actually do see potential with the guys I previously mentioned if Georgia could've blended them with Wheeler and Camara for instance.
