Justin Powell is out. K.D. Johnson is in.

Let's see what happens.

Would be the most Georgia thing to knock off Auburn after getting obliterated by a middling Arkansas squad.

And Crean REALLLLLY needs a conference win. Really.

That's some sh!++y basketball. We finished with 8 assist as a team, we did keep our turnovers under 20... so there's something.

KD appears to be one tough hombre. But what's with our fatty point guards? Wheeler and KD would be well served to get their body fat % in check. KD had 4 steals, and a great game, but I can't say his defense was good.

KD damn sure doesn't make us worse but I'm afraid the outlook aint a whole lot better for this team.

He's got to go. Now. If not now February. If not February then March. This won't abide for another season.

If the game plan was "continually drive straight into Auburn big men and either turn it over or get your shot blocked," the players executed to perfection.

Or show an opponent how not to make free throws. They did an excellent job at that also.

If not for long contracts with huge buyouts... this would absolutely be the time to fire Crean. This years squad is looking worse than the first two, and that's saying something.

Possibly the worst coaching I've ever seen in the SEC. He's in Johnny Jones territory.

after one game i would say kd johnson is our best player.
no one else was even average last night.
is there a statistic that tracks how many of your shots get blocked?
wheeler would lead the nation.

Crean should have been fired the first time he lost a game. There is no excuse for losing. None!

W's & L's matter. We went five straight years .500 or better (UGA Record) then finish 7-11 and make a coaching change. The new coach is 7-33, the product on the floor is just plain awful and there is no improvement in sight. Crean has been an immense failure, there's no way around that.

Any of y'all have a W total Crean needs to get to this year to keep his job? 5-13 is an embarrassing low bar to set for a third year, highly paid, coach to clear. I don't believe we'll get there. 4-14 or worse, he has to go. If we're 0-9 at the midpoint, I wouldn't let him finish the season.

By any objective standard Crean's W/L results on the court, specifically and particularly in SEC play, have been abysmal. As in among the worst if not worst in school history.

I give him a pass year 1 because he potentially and probably could have won more games but stuck to implementing his system over short term results. Fine.

Year 2 - wretched.

Year 3 - abysmal and showing little hope.

Year 4 - nothing on the court currently, on the horizon, or in the pipeline would indicate light at the end of the tunnel.

Other than the one off by KD - in another SEC loss this time to winless in conference play Auburn - there literally is nothing positive occurring with Georgia basketball on the court.

Other than I'm positive we won't make NCAA, won't have a .500 record in SEC play, and likely won't win more than 1-3 conference games.

At least I am looking forward to seeing how KD plays going forward. That game may have been a little flukish for him, we'll see. Ole Miss is certainly winnable Saturday but Kermit is a damn good coach (and our guy's not) and I expect them to play well. I'd look for KD to pickup a couple of charges or more. OleMs will be ready for him.

There's enough talent here to win some games:
Wheeler
KD
Kier
Garcia
Fagan
Camara
Horne
Brown
McMillan

That's a decent bunch of players but they don't look any better coached than what an average AAU Coach could achieve.

One problem I see with that group of 9 is 4 of them are grad transfers.

However, we should be able to win some games with that group.

Main issue is we don't have much height and can't shoot the 3...or play defense...or play smart.

The grad transfers are brought in to help you win now. That ain't happening, and how bad are we looking to be next year?
I believe it's 3 GT's... Kier, Horne, Garcia. McMillan just a juco sophomore. The coach is responsible for the team chemistry and it feels like these guys are all out for themselves before the team. Kinda understandable, this is Kier, Garcia and Horne's last hurrah. Camara and Wheeler had good frosh seasons so they're expecting big things out of themselves this year. Now add KD to the mix....

You're right, we have 3 grad transfers.

We also have 3 JUCO.

Not sure that's the way to build a program.

Pretty sure it's not... sign of swings and misses with other recruits.

We really need to hang on here, especially with Ky and Fla in the next two. We're currently shooting 54/55/90 while Ole Miss is 45/18/10.... they are 1-10 at the line. This could get tight if we cool and they warm a bit.
